Vancouver Protesters Burn US Flag After Police Shooting

Protesters in Vancouver, Washington, burned a US flag on the night of October 30, as hundreds of people gathered in the city one night after a 21-year-old black man was shot and killed by police.

Oregon Live said hundreds of people attended a vigil for Kevin Peterson, who was killed the night before in the Hazel Dell area.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office said that “upon entering the parking lot of a bank,” Peterson “fired his weapon” at deputies in pursuit. “The deputies returned fire and the subject was tragically killed,” the sheriff’s office said. According to Oregon Live, Peterson was on the phone to his partner at the time of the incident. The Southwest Washington Independent Investigative Response Team has begun an investigation.
