Wombat Snuggles Into New Human Mum While Recovering From Tick Bites

Mullen, a new addition to the Sleepy Burrows Wombat Sanctuary, is a tiny wombat orphan who was found covered in tick bites. Wildlife carer Donna Stepan, who cares for a number of wombats at the sanctuary, said Mullen was found next to his dead mother and very stressed when he came into her care.

“He is carried around with (me) in a bag as otherwise he stresses and calls for his ‘mother’. Once I carry him, this behaviour stops. It will get better over time. For now the most important factor is to reduce his stress, make sure he drinks all bottles and let him know that he is safe.”
