World Cup: Budweiser will award winning country with shipload of beer

After controversy over Qatar's decision to ban the sale of beer at World Cup games, Budweiser will instead ship its unsold beer to the winning country of the World Cup.

Video transcript

DAVE BRIGGS: I think, Rachelle, the winning World Cup team takes home $42 million. That's 4 million more than 2018. But that's not all. They'll also take home a boatload of beer. Qatar's decision to ban alcohol at World Cup stadiums left sponsor Budweiser in a major pickle-- what to do with pallets of unsold beer?

The solution came in this tweet. New day, new tweet. Winning country gets the Buds. Who will get them? That, we'll find out. It's been an interesting couple of matches so far in the World Cup. By the way, Bud has a $72 million deal with FIFA. How exactly they figure out what they're owed from FIFA, well, we shall find out.
