CREATe.org Launches 'Introduction to Intellectual Property (IP)' e-Learning Course

Online course helps companies educate employees and supply chain partners about intellectual property (IP) and how to protect it

Washington DC - July 29, 2014 -
Companies seeking to better protect intellectual property can now use CREATe.org`s e-Learning Course "Introduction to Intellectual Property," a 15-minute interactive course designed to help companies educate their employees and third party partners about the importance of IP. It features:

  • An overview of intellectual property, including copyrights, trade secrets, design rights, patents and trademarks;

  • A variety of scenarios, designed to help employees and partners understand how IP can be compromised, both intentionally and inadvertently;

  • Clear steps that employees or supply chain and business partners can take to protect their company`s IP;

  • Interactive examples prompting users to consider specific examples of IP and ways to avoid misappropriation; and

  • Knowledge checks to increase retention and assess knowledge gained from the course.

This course and the CREATe Leading Practices for IP Protection service are designed to provide companies with practical, cost-effective ways to put systems and business processes in place to mitigate the risks of counterfeiting, piracy, trade secret theft and other types of IP infringement.

"Intellectual property in the form of trademarks, patents, trade secrets, copyright and design rights, are at the core of a company`s value and competitive advantage - however, many employees and supply chain partners put these crown jewels at risk due to a lack of understanding of the assets and how to protect them. This course provides an effective way to train a broad range of employees or partners on the types of IP and how to protect it," stated Pamela Passman, President and CEO of the Center for Responsible Enterprise and Trade (CREATe.org).
