Description

Hanwha Corporation manufactures and sells explosives and industrial machinery. It offers gunpowder; aircraft engine and parts; chip mounters; packaging materials; synthetic resin; petrochemical products; broadcasting and wireless communication equipment; CCTVs; automobile parts; compound; silicon ingot; bearing; military equipment; electronic circuit; non-memory semiconductor; and polysilicon. The company also constructs residential and commercial buildings, EPC, bridges, railway, and roads, water and sewage treatment plants, thermal power plants, combined heat and power plants, petrochemical plants, and wind and solar power plants. In addition, it is involved in real estate construction, development, rental, management, and supply; processing and distribution of agricultural, livestock, and forest products; golf course and resort condo operation; aquarium operation, sewage treatment and environmental pollution prevention facility, solar power, department store, food wholesale and retail, life insurance, sports club and asset management, deposit and installment saving, financial investment, investment management, land rental, mine development, coal sales, management, renewable energy, and data processing businesses; and botanical garden and zoo operations. Further, the company offers stock brokerage, insurance agency and brokerage, computer system integration consulting, business support, investment advisory, and insurance and pension related services; machine tools and power train parts; compressors and industrial equipment; energy management systems; and asset collective investment scheme. Additionally, it invests in securities; sells electricity; develops and supplies application software, satellite systems, and semiconductor sensors; and operates restaurant and hotel. The company was formerly known as Korea Explosives Corp. and changed its name to Hanwha Corporation in March 1993. The company was founded in 1952 and is headquartered in Seoul, South Korea.
