France's Engie said its electric vehicle charging station business lost 22 million euros ($24 million) in the first quarter and will continue to lose money into next year. Engie has failed to find a buyer for troubled subsidiary EV Box and is now considering selling off the business piecemeal in a bid to limit its exposure, Engie CFO Pierre-Francois Riolacci said on Friday during company results. EV Box lost 140 million euros last year and is "trending toward that same amount" in 2024, he said, adding there would be more losses in 2025.
PARIS (Reuters) -French energy company Engie said on Friday first-quarter earnings fell 3.2% as a warmer than usual winter depressed demand for natural gas and price volatility eased, outweighing higher hydropower output. The company, which makes most of its income from producing, transporting and selling gas and electricity, said earnings before interest and tax (EBIT), excluding nuclear, totalled 3.7 billion euros ($4.02 billion), versus 3.8 billion euros in the same period of 2023. Engie said it was still targeting annual net recurring income on a group share basis of 4.2-4.8 billion euros.
