1. Treasurer's House, North Yorkshire

Lot's of people say they've seen the ghosts of a Roman army in the cellars of this house. Allegedly, an engineer was working in the cellars when he heard a trumpet then saw a soldiers helmet emerging from a wall. The house was also featured in the Guinness Book of Records for having 'Ghosts of the greatest longevity'.

2. Ham House, Surrey

One overnight investigation found there could have been fifteen phantoms living within the house including a number of dogs! There have also been reports of footsteps and chilly spots in this spooky house.

3. Felbrigg Hall, Norfolk

The magnificent library of Felbrigg Hall once belonged to William Windham III, whose ghost is said to regularly return to the room to finish off reading all those wonderful books. William died almost 200 years ago after running back into the burning house to try and save his books.

4. Dinefwr, Camarthenshire

Lady Elinor Cavendish is said to haunt Newton House, where she was brutally strangled by a man she was supposed to marry but did not love. Staff say lights switch themselves on and off and muffled voices can be heard when no one is there.

5. Corfe Castle, Dorset

It's the stuff of fairytales: An evil Anglo-Saxon stepmother Queen ordered for her 18-year-old step son and heir to the throne to be murdered on the castle grounds. If that's not enough, Edward II was also imprisoned here before his brutal murder.

6. Buckland Abbey, Devon

Sir Francis Drake's spirit is still rumoured to haunt his former home, along with his 'hell hounds' of course.

7. Blickling Hall, Norfolk

Anne Boleyn's headless ghost is said to return to her birthplace on the anniversary of her beheading.

8. Dunster Castle, Somerset

Skeletons of a seven foot tall prisoner manacled by the wrists and ankles was found along with several others and the site is said to be constantly dark and gloomy. Dogs choose to stay well away from the site.

9. Croft Castle, Herefordshire

Rumoured to be the most haunted house in the Midlands, Croft Castle is said to have a seven-foot figure ghost in residence thought to be the ghost of a Welsh freedom fighter.
