4 Expensive Big Lots Items That Are Definitely Worth the Cost

Big Lots is known for bargain prices on a seemingly endless inventory of goods ranging from wellness and household products to furniture and groceries.

The store’s website writes, “Our customers may be on a tight budget, or they may just enjoy our treasure-hunt atmosphere.”

Others, however, head to Big Lots to buy expensive items because they know they might spend a whole lot more for the same thing elsewhere. The following high-quality items aren’t cheap, but you should consider saving up to buy them at Big Lots because they’re worth every penny.

65-Inch Ameriwood Himmel Electric Fireplace Console

Pat Ahern is the CMO of Security Explorer, a platform that connects individuals and businesses with vetted security guard services. His business success has given him the financial freedom to buy nice things, but to avoid wasting money, he sticks with his go-to store when purchasing items with daunting price tags.

“I’m an avid shopper and a Big Lots superfan,” he said. “When it comes to finding exceptional value in high-quality items, Big Lots never disappoints.”

One recent purchase was a luxurious but functional 65-inch Himmel electric fireplace console, one of the pricier items at Big Lots.

“I bought one for my open-concept living room last winter and fell in love with the cozy ambiance it creates,” Ahern said. “The large 65-inch size provides ample heat for my downstairs, and the detailed wood finish gives it the look of true built-in millwork. I saw similar-sized electric fireplace consoles that cost over $700 at specialty stores like The Brick. For the quality, $359.99 is a fantastic price. I use mine daily in the winter — it warms up my living room nicely and creates such a relaxing vibe.”

Perfect Sleeper iCollection Manor California King Firm Mattress

Ahern also spent big bucks on an iCollection Manor mattress from Big Lots — but it was a bargain compared to what he might have spent elsewhere.

“As for that Perfect Sleeper mattress, I took a chance on the California King for my master bedroom and it did not disappoint,” he said. “At [$729.97], it’s nearly half the price of other brands like Stearns & Foster or Tempur-Pedic, but delivers the same luxurious comfort. The prior mattress I bought for over $1,000 at Mattress Firm sagged within a couple of years. This Perfect Sleeper is going strong after three years now. For the unbeatable comfort and durability at that price, it’s absolutely worth it.”

H20GO Duel Bay Mega Inflatable Water Park

This summer, you can bring your kids to a water park or you can bring the water park to them with a trip to Big Lots.

A TikTok parenting influencer who goes by Molly on the Meet the Mackenzies channel profiled the massive H20GO Duel Bay Mega Inflatable Water Park, calling it “really good quality,” “huge” and “incredible.”

She noted features like the climbing wall ladder that leads to the top of the 8-foot water castle, where water filters down the dual, two-person slide where kids can race — or duel — as well as a water cave, a basketball hoop, fixed water guns and more. Its mega-blower inflates the park quickly despite its gargantuan size, it’s made from durable, heavy-duty materials that are built for comfort but built to last, and it can be used with or without water for year-round fun.

The price is $439.99, which isn’t cheap — unless you consider that it’s on sale from its original price of $549.99. But even that’s a steal compared to its comp value — Big Lots’ analysis of standard retail prices for comparable merchandise — of $699.99.

Madison Lift Recliner With Heat and Massage

A price of $499.99 might seem like a lot to spend on a chair, but with a stellar 4.9-star rating, the Madison lift recliner with heat and massage is worthy of consideration — but nearly universal adoration from verified customers is only part of the reason the chair might be worth the investment.

The other part is the price.

Big Lots used to sell it for $100 more, but even that was a huge break from what you would expect to spend elsewhere — the comp price is $1,499, which gives Big Lots customers a 67% discount on a place to plant themselves after work that offers much more than the average chair.

The transitional-style single-motor lift chair has a tall back to keep even large loungers covered from head to foot. The footrest extension fully supports the legs thanks to a solid steel mechanism and steel seat box — then, of course, there are the heating and massage elements, which take elevated relation to the next level.
