Addenbrooke’s Hospital Ruling: Has Your Local NHS Trust Been Placed In Special Measures?

One of Britain’s biggest NHS trusts has been deemed “inadequate” by inspectors.

The NHS regulator Monitor said Cambridge University Hospitals Trust must make improvements at Addenbrooke’s Hospital and Rosie Birth Centre.

The Cambridge University Hospitals Trust is one of a number of authorities that has now been placed in “special measures” after inspection.

Although the inspectors said staff offered “outstanding” quality of care, they criticised staffing levels and delays in outpatients treatment.

According to Monitor, the trust had an average overspend of £1.2 million per week. The trust has apologised to patients and its chief executive, Keith McNeil, stepped down last week.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) said there were staff shortages at the trust.

East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust will also be placed in special measures, meaning its running will be overseen by independent experts.

6. Colchester University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

7. East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust

8. University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust

9. Wye Valley NHS Trust

10. Hinchingbrooke NHS Trust

11. Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (mental health trust)

12. Barts Health NHS Trust

13. West Hertfordshire NHS Trust
