Alibaba (BABA) Gains As Market Dips: What You Should Know

Alibaba (BABA) closed the most recent trading day at $174.19, moving +0.4% from the previous trading session. This move outpaced the S&P 500's daily loss of 0.34%. Elsewhere, the Dow lost 0.09%, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq lost 0.43%.

Heading into today, shares of the online retailer had gained 8.5% over the past month, outpacing the Retail-Wholesale sector's gain of 5.97% and the S&P 500's gain of 4.46% in that time.

BABA will be looking to display strength as it nears its next earnings release. The company is expected to report EPS of $1.51, up 23.77% from the prior-year quarter. Meanwhile, the Zacks Consensus Estimate for revenue is projecting net sales of $16.52 billion, up 35.13% from the year-ago period.

Looking at the full year, our Zacks Consensus Estimates suggest analysts are expecting earnings of $6.70 per share and revenue of $74.48 billion. These totals would mark changes of +17.13% and +33.92%, respectively, from last year.
