The BJP released a list of 148 candidates for West Bengal Assembly Election in Delhi today. It has fielded Asim Sarkar, Mukul Roy and Rahul Sinha among some prominent leaders to take on Mamata Banerjee’s TMC in a bid to wrest power.

BJP's national vice-president Mukul Roy will contest the polls from the Krishnanagar Uttar seat.

Sitting MLA Jitendra Tiwari will be fighting from Pandaveswar constituency.

The party has been facing heavy backlash from its workers over its choice of candidates. Many party activists have staged demonstrations outside the saffron camp’s election office in Bengal, and clashed with the police often disrupting law and order.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tore into West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her party TMC as he played on the “Khela Hobe” slogan to say: “Didi, O Didi – you played for 10 years. Now the game will end and development will begin”.
