Best home printers 2020: Wireless and photo-ready devices for your home office

Laura Hampson
·5-min read

If there’s one thing we’ve come to the stark realisation of during the past six months of working from home, it’s just how much we rely on our office printers.

Whether it’s printing off meeting notes or a cheeky personal document, we didn’t realise just how much we use it. But with working from home becoming the new norm (and government-enforced for the next six months at least), there’s set to be a surge in this oft-forgot home necessity.

Not only are they great to have for printing off assignments or for proof-reading work, they are especially handy for those who run small businesses from home. And when travel picks up again, you won’t need to run around last minute looking for somewhere to print your plane tickets, you can simply do it from home.

But where to start? While some can be pricey, from our research the pricier printers not only offer better results but also produce a lower ink cost per page, essentially saving you money in the long run. Yet whether you want fancy or basic, there’s something for every printing need.

Read on to see our pick of the best at-home printers for 2020.

Epson EcoTank ET-2720

Ink needed: Epson 104 (BK/C/M/Y) Black & Colour Ink Bottle 4 Pack, £36.39

If you’re looking for a smart printer that can cater to all of your needs (and not break the bank with ink replacements), Epson EcoTank ET-2720 should be just the ticket. As its name suggests, this 3-in-1 printer (it can scan and copy, too) is eco-friendly thanks to its cartridge-free printing which can also save up to 90 per cent on ink costs.

The printing quality is excellent and there’s an easy-to-use control panel on the front. It can wirelessly connect to your smartphone or laptop, and while its size is relatively big in terms of home office printers (179 x 375‎ x 347mm) you should find that it can fit snugly on your WFH desk.
