Whether you love it or loathe it, Valentine’s Day is just around the corner - but it’s looking very different this year.

While we remain in lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, we’ll be swapping restaurant reservations for home cooking and our best clothes for the joggers that we’ve been in for the past 10 or so months (we’ll buy ourselves plenty of flowers and chocolates, though).

If you fancy taking a break from thinking about what to cook, supermarkets have released details of their meal deal options for the year’s “most romantic day”.

So whether you’re celebrating with your significant other, your flatmates or your family, here are the meal deals to indulge in this Valentine's Day.

Marks & Spencer | Shop here

Price: £20

What’s included? A starter, main, side, dessert, a bottle of wine or fizz and a box of chocolates.

If you’re looking for a fancy meal deal, you can’t go past M&S. This year, love birds will delight in the ‘Love Linguine’ with pasta strands measuring 50cm long to encourage ‘Lady and the Tramp’ moments. There’s an entirely vegan menu on offer too - including vegan mushroom pate and heart-shaped vegan churros with chocolate dipping sauce.

The viral Love Sausage also makes a return this year - but in the form of a breakfast box instead. As well as its dinner meal deal, you can also order M&S’s £30 Valentine’s Breakfast in Bed hamper complete with the aforementioned sausage, heart-shaped crumpets, coffee, chocolate, cherry tomatoes and bellinis.

Available from Wednesday 10th February, find out more here.

Morrisons | Shop here

Price: £15

What’s included? The Best Dine in for Two meal deal includes starters, mains, two sides and either a drink or a dessert.

A three-course dinner for just £15? Yes, please. This year, Morrison’s extensive menu includes the option to have a completely vegan dinner with vegan chorizo palmier, mushroom and leek bake, chunky chips, edamame beans and a vegan chocolate pudding.

Other standouts include Scottish mussels, salmon with honey and fennel butter, beef wellington, dauphinoise potatoes and salted caramel and chocolate profiteroles.

Available from Wednesday 10th February, buy it here.

Tesco | Shop here

Price: £15

What’s included? One starter, main, side, vegetable, dessert and drink - each course is designed to feed two people

With its price sitting at £5 cheaper than last year (down to £15 from £20), there’s plenty more to get excited about from Tesco’s Valentine’s Day menu. You’ll need to have similar tastes to your dining partner, however, as each course feeds two. For starters, choose from an antipasti platter, smoked salmon tartlets or camembert sharing bread. Mains on offer include Scottish salmon en croute, rump steaks and vegan wellingtons, while heart-shaped vegan brownies, millionaire tarts and Belgian white chocolate and raspberry pots are available for dinner.

Available from 8th February, buy it here.

Iceland | Shop here

Price: £8

What’s included? A main and two sides.

By far the cheapest option for a meal deal, it also offers the least amount of items. For a main, you can choose from two varieties of steak (Aberdeen Angus or sirloin) and the sides on offer are steak-cut chips and onion rings.

Available from 2nd February, buy it here.

Watch: Easy peasy panko salmon bites

Price: £20

What’s included? A starter, main, side, dessert as well as a bottle of wine or chocolates.

With over 50 starter, main, side and dessert dishes, there’s plenty to choose from in Sainsbury’s Valentine’s Day meal deal this year. Scallop gratin, a butternut squash rosti stack, oysters and Scottish mussels are available as a starter, while diners can choose from chicken and king prawn paella, lamb shanks, sirloin steaks with heart-shaped butter or vegan steaks as a main. Dessert-wise all of the GU pots are on offer, including melting chocolate puds and key lime pie.

Available from 10th February, buy it here.

Price: £20

What’s included? A starter, main, two sides, dessert and a drink or a box of chocolates.

For something a bit moorish, Waitrose is an excellent option - starters include Heston Blumenthal’s bloody Mary prawn cocktail and breaded vegan melts. There’s a choice of 12 mains on offer too including coq au vin, vegan vegetable swirls or a rack of lamb, while desserts include the delicious-sounding espresso martini chocolate tortes.

Available from 10th February, buy it here.

Price: £15 or £12 if you opt for a soft drink.

What’s included? A starter, main, side, dessert and drink.

With its premium range on offer - as well as a full vegan menu for the first time - Co-op’s starters include vegan slow-roasted tomatoes and chorizo arancini. For your main, tuck into a rump steak or salmon en croute with a side of asparagus before indulging in a vegan dark chocolate and cherry brownie.

Available from 10th February, buy it here.
