Yahoo Finance Brian Flores says Dolphins will be at Colin Kaepernick's workout
At any point over the past two years and eight months, the Miami Dolphins could have signed Colin Kaepernick. He’s a free agent and wants to play.
It’s fair to be cynical about the entire story of the NFL suddenly springing an offer to Kaepernick of a pro-day style workout on Saturday in Atlanta. Part of that will be seeing all the NFL teams in attendance that could have reached out at any point to offer Kaepernick a private workout.

Dolphins coach Brian Flores said his team will be in Atlanta, making them the first team to publicly RSVP to the peculiar event. After that, Lions coach Matt Patricia said his team would be in attendance, and sources told Mike Fisher of 105.3 The Fan in Dallas that the Cowboys would attend.
Dolphins will attend Colin Kaepernick workout
It doesn’t sound like the Dolphins are in the market for Kaepernick, but they’ll take a look anyway.
“We like our quarterback situation right now,” Flores said, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. “We're going to do our due diligence.”
The Dolphins’ top two quarterbacks are 36-year-old Ryan Fitzpatrick and Josh Rosen, who was proclaimed the starter by Flores only to be benched after two quarters because he was so bad against Washington. Miami has a 68.7 passer rating, the worst in the league.
Kaepernick might not fit the Dolphins’ rebuilding plan — though, to be fair, neither does current starter Fitzpatrick — considering he just turned 32 years old and hasn’t played football since the end of the 2016 season. But at least the Dolphins will be at the workout, whether their intentions are sincere or not.
How many teams will go see Kaepernick?
Teams will be asked about Kaepernick this week, and presumably more than a few will avoid the topic. Jets coach Adam Gase did, refusing to answer by saying he was focused this week on a game against the Washington Redskins.
The NFL, which already settled a collusion grievance with Kaepernick, didn’t seem to go out of its way to give Kaepernick the best chance possible to impress teams. Read Yahoo Sports’ Charles Robinson’s account of how the workout was set up and that becomes clear. But at least it’s an opportunity to throw in front of NFL teams, which wasn’t happening before.
Teams will show up. The NFL didn’t go through all of this for nobody to show up to a workout it randomly put together and gave Kaepernick two hours to accept. Whether any team is there for the right reason might be a different question.
