Yahoo Finance Cam and Jules' unlikely friendship with another MAFSA star
If, like me, you've been left bereft at the thought of Married At First Sight Australia (season 6) drawing to a close, you're not the only one. We saw affairs (hello, Jessika and Dan, and Sam and Ines) and cat fights (Cyclone Cyrell ❤️), but also true love playing out before our very eyes in the form of Cameron Merchant and now real-life-wife, Jules Robinson.
Setting themselves apart from the drama, Cam and Jules quickly became the show's wholesome golden couple – which is why it's so surprising to learn that actually, three years down the line from filming, they've struck up an unlikely friendship with another contestant from the show. One of the women who neither of them seemed all that close to during the series... Ines Basic.
Speaking during a new joint interview with The Times, Jules explained that actually, Ines has really changed since the show and that they get on well with her these days.
"You know what? Ines is actually really great," she said. Then, when asked whether or not Ines and Sam's affair was fake, Jules replied, "I’m not saying that. I was never asked to do anything that wasn’t real and I don’t really think you can create a character that isn’t there... But Ines has changed a lot."
She continued on to say, "I think she really liked Sam, and nothing was going to get in the way and, yeah, she went about it in a pretty awful way, but we all do silly things in life and unfortunately she just did hers in front of millions of people. She’s put her hands up since then and been accountable for her actions. We get along pretty well now."
Ines isn't the only person from MAFSA that Jules has remained close to either – during her and Cam's actual wedding (sorry, the ones on the show aren't legally binding), Heidi Latcham had the honour of being a bridesmaid, something that Jules announced during the last dinner party that the group partook in, in order to diffuse the mood following heated arguments.
A tad awkwardly, Jules also announced during that final meal that another contestant from the show, Melissa Lucarelli, would be given the honour of bridesmaid too... but that one, umm, didn't quite pan out for a couple of reasons.
Is it too soon to re-watch the entire thing? No?
