COVID-19 in Canada: Ontario sees highest daily coronavirus case count since the beginning of the pandemic

Ontario breaks single-day COVID-19 cases record

Ontario broke the province’s single-day record for new COVID-19 cases, totalling 1,050 on Tuesday. Of the new cases, 408 are in Toronto, 212 in Peel, 86 in Halton, 76 in York Region and 57 in Durham.

The province also reported 14 additional deaths, bringing the total to 3,166.

Ontario completed 25,279 test in the last 24 hours with 20,758 currently under investigation. The test positivity in Tuesday’s report was 4.2 per cent.

There are 357 people with COVID-19 in hospitals, including 73 in ICU, and there are 78 long-term care homes reporting outbreaks. This includes 530 resident cases and 329 staff cases.

The province also reported 134 new school-related COVID-19 cases, 82 student cases, 13 staff cases and 39 individuals who have not been identified.
