Casualty is the latest soap to undergo a schedule shake-up in the wake of Euro 2020.

Following EastEnders' own changes from this week due to the competition, the medical drama is set to be off-air next Saturday evening (June 19). Following that, Casualty is unlikely to return until next month when the Euros conclude on July 11.

This isn't the first change-up that the soap has made in recent months, with the show previously airing two episodes on May 8 to keep up with scheduling due to the Eurovision Song Contest.

Among its own changes for the Euro 2020, EastEnders will be premiering episodes earlier on BBC iPlayer for the first time for a three-week period from next week.

Meanwhile, the BBC recently confirmed to Digital Spy that Casualty will be staying put following the cancellation of sister show Holby City.

"I can confirm Casualty will absolutely be remaining on air," a spokesperson said.

Holby's original announcement said: "We're very sorry to bring you the sad news that Holby City will come to an end in March next year, after 23 amazing years.

"We are so very grateful to all of Holby's wonderful cast, crew, writers, producers – and to our millions of loyal viewers and fans for being part of our show."

Casualty continues on Saturday (June 12) on BBC One.
