Cheryl Baker offered money from former 'Dancing on Ice' partner after sharing financial woes

Bucks Fizz star Cheryl Baker has received offers of financial support from friends and fans after revealing her money woes.

The 66-year-old recently shared she has been left "broke" due to her gigs being cancelled because of the pandemic.

Her loved ones and fans have rallied around with offers of help, with those offering a helping hand including bandmate Mike Nolan and Dan Whiston, the professional skater she was paired with when competing on Dancing on Ice in 2018.

"Mike rang me and said, "I’m coming down on the train. Pick me up at the station, I’m bringing cash for you'," she told The Sun.

"My skating partner from Dancing On Ice, Dan Whiston, called and offered to send money. A fan in Australia put a call out, saying 'Cheryl’s destitute, we need to start a collection'."

Baker added that she her guitarist husband Steve Stroud are also growing their own vegetables as they embrace a more frugal lifestyle.

"We ate our own broccoli, carrots and potatoes on Christmas Day," she shared. "I’ve started planning the veg garden now because I know this spring I still won’t be working.”

The Making Your Mind Up singer explained that she received £700 a month from a state pension, as well as £250 from a private one.

Despite the financial worries, Baker said lockdown has been "good" for her as her 26-year-old twin daughters Kyla and Natalie have returned home.

The twins, who have their partners staying with them, also contribute toward their keep.

Bucks Fizz won the 1981 Eurovision Song Contest and Baker continues to perform in spin-off act The Fizz with original members Nolan and Jay Aston.
