Yahoo Finance Children leave mom stunned with ‘unforgettable’ surprise hidden inside birthday cake
A group of siblings found a creative way to surprise their mom on her birthday.
Arlene Gonzalvo celebrated her 54th in September at a Bulacan restaurant in the Philippines. Her children kept their birthday surprise a secret until the family arrived at the establishment for dinner. Gonzalvo loves watching videos online but she’s never been able to own a smartphone. Luckily, her kids knew exactly what to do.
Footage showed the family surprise Gonzalvo with a gold-encrusted chocolate cake. When she went to pull out the cake topper that says “happy birthday,” to cut the cake, she noticed it was strangely difficult to remove. Gonzalvo tugged repeatedly at the plastic decoration until it started to budge.
When she finally pulled it out, a smartphone covered in cake frosting came out. The mother looked smiled and covered her face in excitement. Family members could be heard squealing with glee.
“My mother took care of us and worked hard to provide,” one of Gonzalvo’s daughters Edelyn told Newsflare. “Now it’s our turn. So on her birthday, we gave her something unforgettable in the simplest way we know.”
Catching someone off guard always appears to be the best surprise. Like when a Reddit user shared the touching footage of his roommate gifting him a black cat on his birthday.
