Yahoo Finance Coleen Nolan opens up about her worst decade, saying she felt 'redundant as a woman'
Coleen Nolan has said that her 50s have been her toughest decade yet, in which she hit rock bottom and felt “redundant as a woman”.
The Loose Women star has been through a series of traumas in recent years, including losing her sister Bernie to breast cancer in 2013 and splitting with second husband Ray Fensome in 2018.

Nolan told OK! magazine: “I felt redundant as a woman. Obviously I lost Bernie, which started all this off, then I hit the menopause, so hormonally I've been all over the place.
“Also my marriage ended and my kids are growing up, so for the last three years, I just felt like, ‘Oh I am done then’. I felt like it was nature's way of telling me I was surplus to requirements now.”
Despite her troubles, Nolan said she didn’t feel she had suffered from depression, but admitted she had found it difficult to get out of bed in the morning.
She said: “I was numb. My lowest point was trying to find enthusiasm for anything. I don't want to say that [I was depressed] because I have friends that suffer with depression but I sometimes had to force myself to get out of bed, because I thought, 'What am I getting up for?’”

Nolan added that things had been made even more difficult by the idea that she was letting down late sister Bernie, who “would have given anything to be alive” for all of her 50s.
Mum-of-three Nolan, who was previously married to Shane Richie, said she didn’t feel lonely as her youngest child was still living at home, but was not looking forward to her moving out one day.
But she said she had regained her confidence through taking part in stage show The Thunder Girls, which Coronation Street star Beverley Callard recently revealed she was leaving her 30-year role on the cobbles to spend more time on.
