Concurrent Technologies Corporation Transitions Electronic Safety, Health, and Wellness Web Tool to the National Park Service

JOHNSTOWN, PA--(Marketwired - June 16, 2016) - Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) is supporting the U.S. Department of the Interior National Park Service (NPS) in efforts to create a sustainable culture of safety, health, and wellness for its employees. CTC team members collaborated with NPS to develop a web-based electronic Safety, Health, and Wellness Tool (e-Tool) to implement the companion NPS strategy. The e-Tool will guide and measure progress across over 400 National Parks, Battlefields, Historic Sites, and Programs with enterprise-wide self-assessment of progress and performance.

Ms. Gabrielle Fisher is the Program Manager for the Employee Wellness Program at the National Park Service, Office of Risk Management. CTC's work was performed under the National Defense Center for Energy and Environment (NDCEE) contract. CTC applied agile project management to quickly respond to NPS with a Beta version for testing in 135 days. The e-Tool was one of the first web-applications in NPS to use personal identity verification (PIV) cards to authenticate users.

The tool was crafted to fully comply with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) security controls and federal accessibility (Section 508) standards. CTC worked closely with NPS to build an application for a broad range of users and support needs. The application gives NPS employees from Programs and small parks, like the Flight 93 Memorial, to large parks, like Yellowstone, tools for self-assessment. The e-Tool also provides reporting for NPS Regions and Service-wide enterprise reporting. NPS employs approximately 20,000 diverse professionals -- permanent, temporary, and seasonal. They are assisted by nearly 140,000 volunteers who donate over five million hours each year. CTC built an information system guide to monitor progress through stages of Safety, Health, and Wellness maturity.

The Safety, Health, and Wellness Strategy received NPS Director approval in October 2015, and the e-Tool was deployed in February 2016 to support implementation.

To date, CTC has designed, implemented, and installed the e-Tool; supported Beta testing; verified Section 508 compliance; and delivered user and maintenance guides.
