Corrie confirms a shocking Underworld decision

Coronation Street spoilers ahead.

Weatherfield villain Stephen Reid will continue to get the upper hand over Carla Connor, as the Underworld staff vote him in as their new boss.

As fans of Coronation Street have seen, the pair have been at loggerheads over the past few months.

Killer Stephen has even resorted to dropping LSD into her drinks, and the mind-altering effect it's had on her reaches terrible heights tonight (March 15), as Carla kicks everyone out of the factory.

In future scenes, Peter is stunned to discover Stephen taking charge of the factory and goes on to accuse staff (shareholders in the business, mind) of stabbing Carla in the back with their decision.

He then visits a downbeat Carla, dropping the bombshell that Underworld's workers have opted for Stephen to take control of the business.

What does the future hold for Underworld, and can Carla ever return?

Todd Boyce, who plays Stephen, previously said of his character's agenda: "[Stephen] knows there are the 50 centres with shares in the company and he just needs to mobilise them and make them think she is not capable of doing the job.

"It's pretty ingenious, and she has annoyed him so much that he doesn't actually care what it is going to do to her.

"It is a relatively short-term plan to start with, just to sow the seed of doubt with everyone. He plans to do it over a period of time so it looks like she is having real problems."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
