DIY watermelon face mask gives you dewy, bouncy skin

There’s nothing like biting into a nice piece of refreshing watermelon on a hot summer day. But it turns out, watermelon is also great when slathered onto your skin.

Watermelon is made up of 92 percent water which means it packs a huge punch of hydration.

Watch as In The Know’s Phoebe Zaslav tries out turning watermelon into a natural, complexion-enhancing face mask with only two ingredients.

“Watermelon is packed with vitamins A and C. Vitamin C helps your body produce collagen, a protein that keeps your skin looking radiant and vitamin A actually helps to repair your skin cells,” Phoebe says.

Ingredients:

  • Plain yogurt

  • Watermelon

Step 1: Blend watermelon

It’s probably a good idea to look up the best way to chop a watermelon beforehand. Alternatively, you can get some pre-sliced at the supermarket.

“Just take your watermelon and slice it up,” Phoebe explains. “Then add 1 cup of sliced watermelon to a blender.”

Step 2: Combine watermelon and yogurt

The final step is a lot less tedious than dissecting a giant watermelon, fortunately.

“You’re going to add a tablespoon of plain yogurt to a bowl along with half a cup of watermelon juice. Mix that up well and this is your face mask right here,” she says.

Yogurt can improve the skin’s elasticity, reduce fine lines and fight acne, all the while moisturizing, brightening and evening the skin tone.

The final verdict

Phoebe gives the mask a 10 out of 10. The difference in her complexion is instantly noticable.

“The vitamins and antioxidants in this mask should make the skin on my face look a lot more dewy and supple, so let’s give this a try,” Phoebe says. “So my skin feels super hydrated. And my complexion? Doesn’t look half bad!”
