Eurotunnel Delays: Wales Fans Could Miss Game

Eurotunnel Delays: Wales Fans Could Miss Game

Thousands of Wales fans could miss their side's crunch match against Belgium tonight because of huge Eurotunnel delays.

Some fans arriving at Folkestone have faced waits of up to five hours to get on a train.

That means they may struggle to make it to Lille in time for the quarter final kick off at 8pm (9pm local time).

UEFA says there are no plans to delay the game, because "the vast majority of fans with tickets will arrive on time".

A broken down train overnight has caused the knock-on effects throughout the day.

Among those stuck in queues is Welsh singer Cerys Matthews, who tweeted Eurotunnel: "This is a once in a lifetime event. You are breaking hearts."

A message on the Eurotunnel website says: "Our passenger service is currently operating with some timetable disruption, this is due to earlier cancellations.

"There is a waiting time of approximately 5 hours on the terminal. We regret that we are currently unable to sell tickets to non reserved customers.

"We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this will cause to your journey."

People who are not heading to the match have been advised to postpone their journeys where possible.
