Muttu K. alias Vinay K. alias Siddharth Raj Urs alias Sandy, was arrested following a complaint by one of his victims, who alleged that he cheated her of Rs 19 lakh. Further investigation revealed that he has cheated two more women and the police suspect that many more gullible women may have fallen prey to the fake royal.

He would approach the women by introducing himself as Siddharth Urs, a kin of the Mysuru royal family working for a Microsoft company, the police said.

After winning their confidence, he would extract money from the women under some pretext or the other, they said.

The police say that the accused is a school dropout and a travel guide. He has a five-year-old daughter and took to crime after reading about a similar incident. Further investigations are underway.

High-end mobile phones, iphones and six debit cards were seized from him, the police said.
