Game of Thrones-inspired Adidas trainers to feature NFC chips powered by VeChain

HBO Asia has commissioned a trainer designer to create four bespoke designs inspired by hit TV show Game of Thrones – and they will be embedded with NFC (Near-Field Communication) chips powered by the VeChain blockchain.

According to a report by ClickTheCity, HBO Asia has teamed up with Adidas and Singapore-based designer and home-grown label SBTG to create the trainers to celebrate the release of the upcoming final season of Game of Thrones.

The designer, Mark Ong, has twinned his military-inspired designs with classic Game of Thrones colours, motifs, and quotes.

Three of the pairs feature designs based on House Stark, House Targaryen, and House Lannister, with the final pair inspired by the Night King and his White Walker army.

Mark Ong first started customising trainers back in 2002, with many of his designs being inspired by punk rock and skateboarding culture.

He now runs his business SBTG (short for sabotage) with his wife, Sue-Anne Lim. They have sold custom-designed trainers to several celebrities, including basketball superstars Kobe Bryant and Steph Curry as well as Linkin Park band member Mike Shinoda.

Each pair of the ‘Game of Thrones x SBTG’ customised trainers have been embedded with NFC chips powered by VeChain.

VeChain is a public blockchain platform that will allow any potential collector to verify the authenticity of each pair through the VeChainThor blockchain.

The NFC chips will also contain exclusive behind-the-scenes videos of each design – which can be viewed by anyone using the VeChain mobile app.

The trainers will not be available for sale, but they will be on display from April 17 to April 30 at the Limited Edt Chamber store in Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.
