HOME TOUR: A Pune apartment that plays with blue - 2020's Colour of the Year

When interior designers Hoori Meghani and Akhil Gujrati were commissioned to work on this 2,800-square-foot apartment, they were clear about what not to do. The client’s mandate was to limit the use of brown in the palette, more specifically in the form of veneer and wood-finish laminate cladding. This opened up a world of colour for the designer duo who heads Pune-based Mirari Design Visuals. After re-configuring the circulation spaces, the team detailed out 3D renderings to help the client couple visualize possible colour compositions for the home interiors.

The result is a modern minimalist space, underscored by calming shades and tints of blue. The theme colour, primarily seen on walls, is centre staged against neutral grey, beige, white and cream. Plants serve as refreshing splashes of green. A contemporary material palette of mild steel, concrete and ceramic is offset by warm wooden detailing and tactile upholstered furniture.

Take the tour to see how the designers make it all work!
