A bathroom has to perform many functions. Not just a dedicated space for bathing, showering and freshening up, it’s a private sanctuary in which we prepare ourselves for the day ahead and unwind with a pampering soak at the end of it. Ideally it should be big enough for a tub and separate shower and have lots of storage and great looks too. If yours doesn’t scrub up well, why not splash out on one of these properties as they all feature impeccable bathrooms?

The family bathroom in this recently-converted four-bedroom chapel is as delightful and quirky as the rest of the building. Its centrepiece is a deep copper-clad slipper bath, and there’s a matching basin and a shower cubicle tucked out of sight. A ledge on the exposed brick wall comes in handy for displaying candles and favourite toiletries. Find out more from Carter Jonas.

2. Worthing, West Sussex, £750,000

Black’s not an obvious choice for a bathroom, but in this case it works wonderfully well teamed with jazzy oversized prints. On the first floor of a Grade II-listed five/six bedroom townhouse, it’s fitted with a freestanding bath, a walk-in shower and wall-mounted basin, while roof windows ensure there’s no shortage of natural light. Available from Winkworth.

Probably the only issue you’ll have with the huge, curvy bath in this state-of-the-art bathroom is that you’ll never want to get out of it. The largest of five ensuites in Coppice, a new low-energy five-bedroom house at Altin Homes’ Waterbank development, it features a double height vaulted ceiling and aluminium solar shades on the windows. The bath, along with the double basin and vanity unit and walk-in shower are by Antonio Lupi, a renowned Italian bathroom design company. Available through Gascoigne Halman.

To say that the main marble and bronze-trimmed bathroom in this first floor, two-bedroom apartment is something special is an understatement. For it was voted one of the world’s best bathrooms in the book The Perfect Bath by Barbara Sallick, co-founder of luxury brand Waterworks. The attention to detail is awesome and it’s brilliantly designed to maximise every inch of space, though the high ceiling and huge sash window obviously help.
