How much do you love burgers? Get a 'life-size' tattoo of one and you'll qualify for free burgers for life

For some people, getting a tattoo is the ultimate display of devotion. Getting the names of your partner or children inked on your arm shows how much they mean to, while others will have the crest of their favourite football team indelibly etched on to their back.

But how much would you have to like a burger to get a “life-size” image of one tattooed on to a leg or an arm?

One eaterie in Australia is offering free burgers for life to fans who are prepared to take that step. And it seems the good people of Melbourne are up to the challenge laid down by Cafe 51.

Thousands have been showing their appreciation of the Double B, the Juicy Gigi, the Hayne Burger and the Mac Daddy, among others, by signing up for the chance to get an image of the creation inked on to their body. Bearing in mind some of the burgers, such as The Hulk, stand 34cm tall, that’s some commitment.

Tattoos are for life, so why shouldn’t burgers be free for life too, right?” Cafe 51 says on its website.

“It’s simple, pick a burger, any burger from our current menu and get it tattooed anywhere on your body.

“You are then forever part of our #burgerfamily and you qualify to get this burger absolutely free every day for the rest of your life.”

The eaterie launched the online promotion at the weekend and more than 3,500 people have registered. Only 10 will be initially chosen to get inked and get the free burgers for life. All will have to be over 18 and will be only eligible to have one free burger shown in the tattoo a day.

Cafe co-owner Steve Agi said the promotion was inspired by some customers who had already got inkings of their favourite burgers. He added that such was the success of the offer they were thinking of extending it, depending on the costs.

The tattoo will also have to show the BurgerLove logo and those who get one will have to show the tattoo if asked by Cafe 51 staff to qualify for their free burger. So they might want to think carefully where to get it…
