With Black Friday fast approaching, Brits are probably already adding items to their shopping lists in the hopes of grabbing a bargain when the time comes.

But how can shoppers avoid going into a shopping frenzy, and make sure they get good deals on the day?

Experts at smartphone retailer Mobiles.co.uk shared their top tips for preparing for Black Friday and snapping up deals as quickly as possible.

1. Research products

Look online a few days early so you can find the products you think you might want to buy on Black Friday, and scope them out.

There’s a good chance you’ll be in such a rush to check out before the product sells out on Black Friday that you’ll forget to read reviews – so get it done early.

“Comparing brands and looking over customer reviews can ensure you will not be disappointed when the sales arrive,” said Andrew Cartledge at Mobiles.co.uk.

2. Be on the lookout for ‘price locks’

In the days leading up to Black Friday, you may notice items that have a “price lock” or “price guarantee,” meaning the product is already at its lowest price – it won’t get any cheaper.

This means you don’t have to wait until Black Friday to buy it, as it won’t save you any additional money. So you can swoop in early, while many others will no doubt be waiting for the big day.

3. Check for prices matches

“Some retailers will match prices on Black Friday deals – so it is always worth reading their policies, as this may only cover specific retailers,” said Cartledge.

4. Sign up online

Popular deals sell out fast, so it’s best to set up online accounts ahead of time and save your shipping and payment details. This will allow you to make purchases faster on the day.

“It’s also worth signing up to retailers' newsletters as they tend to send their deals out ahead of time to people on their mailing list,” said Cartledge.

“Ensuring you know what deals will be available will make shopping even easier on the day.”

5. Make a wish list

Most retailers’ websites allow you to make a “wish list” of things you want to buy. Doing this ahead of time will save you precious minutes on sale day.

Having a wish list prepared for Black Friday of the products you want to buy will make it easier when the prices drop, to ensure you’re not wasting time trawling through the other deals,” said Cartledge.

6. Start early

Many retailers start slashing prices days or even weeks before Black Friday, so keep your eyes peeled for early deals.

7. Don’t forget Cyber Monday

If you don’t get everything you want on Black Friday, remember you have another shot on Cyber Monday.

Keep checking prices over the weekend, and do your research to make sure you’re prepared for Monday’s deals.

“Keep in mind, if you don’t get the deals you want in the Black Friday sales, there is always Cyber Monday, and a lot of retailers will continue with great discounts in the lead up to Christmas,” said Cartledge.
