They might not be able to toast the winner in the pub on Friday night, but I’m A Celebrity’s campmates have managed to fit in a trip to the boozer - which of course included a “substantial meal”.

Wales is set to ban alcohol sales from Friday, the day that the ITV reality series is due to end, so the campers had a limited number of days to enjoy a drink together.

In Tuesday’s episode, the trial prize was a visit to The Castle Inn, complete with pints, karaoke, and of course some pub grub which is a COVID requirement in many bars at the moment.

Former soap pub landlords Beverley Callard, who played Liz McDonald in Coronation Street and ran The Rovers Return, and Shane Richie who played EastEnders’ Queen Vic landlord Alfie Moon, had to put pub signs in the right order to win a trip to The Castle Inn.

Jordan North was especially excited at the prospect of a night out when he heard what the prize from the trial would be.

He said: “I love pubs. I’m so happy. I’m even getting showered for it and everything. I’m going to get showered and put a new shirt on. I might do my hair as well.”

But that wasn’t the only thing the celebs had to look forward to, as Giovanna Fletcher and Vernon Kay bagged eight stars at their trial to provide a substantial meal of pies and peas for dinner at the pub.

North said: “I can’t believe they went and won us pub grub. I think I might actually cry.”

Sir Mo Farah added: “I was celebrating hard. I was celebrating like I’d won a gold medal.”

The Castle Inn was decked out for Christmas with trees and tinsel, and many of the campers threw themselves into the party atmosphere by singing karaoke.

North said: “I said to myself, ‘Jordan, do not do karaoke, Jordan, you can’t sing, Jordan, you can’t dance, don’t do karaoke’.

“I had every intention, every fibre of being in my body had every intention not to get up to sing tonight.”

However, viewers saw him belting out Gloria Gaynor’s I Will Survive.

I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! continues tomorrow night at 9pm on ITV.
