They will lead the division after the departure earlier this year of Emily Lenzner, who was executive vice president, global communications and public affairs.

Rivkin announced the new structure in a memo to employees today. The memo is below:

Dear MPA Colleagues,

I am delighted to announce a new organizational and leadership structure for our Communications & Public Affairs division. This function plays a pivotal role at the MPA, shaping our public policy and content protection priorities, enhancing our brand equity, and elevating our corporate profile. It is at the heart of everything we do, serving both our internal teams as well as our member companies and other external stakeholders in government and industry.

To that end, effective immediately, John Mercurio and Greg Saphier will co-lead our Communications & Public Affairs division. John is Senior Vice President, Head of Corporate Communications and Greg Saphier is Senior Vice President, Head of Public Affairs. They will both report directly to me.

John has built strong and productive relationships across the MPA, our member companies and the media. From the coordinated global rollout of Larissa Knapp’s appointment to the global expansion of the annual MPA Awards, he leads on a wide array of communications initiatives with skill, collegiality, and effective management.

Greg has built MPA’s external and public affairs department from the ground up – changing the way we approach advocacy and playing an instrumental role in influencing some of our most important streaming public policy debates. He is a trusted leader and is also the driving force behind vital coalition efforts, such as the Streaming Innovation Alliance, while also serving as Chairman of the Copyright Alliance.

Please join me in congratulating Greg and John on their well-deserved promotions. I am confident that their collaborative leadership will only enhance the MPA’s reputation and value.

Best,

Charlie
