Reports: Bronny James underwent surgery to repair torn meniscus

LeBron James’ son, Bronny, underwent knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus earlier this month, according to multiple reports.

Bronny reportedly suffered the injury in practice about three weeks ago, according to the Los Angeles Daily News, and is believed to be season-ending. James currently plays for Sierra Canyon in Los Angeles, though high school basketball has not yet been permitted to resume play indoors in California — something that could help him, depending on his recovery time.

James first mentioned his injury while streaming on Twitch earlier this month, but did not specify how it happened.

Sierra Canyon has started competing as a club basketball team with high school sports shut down, and is set to play next on March 5 in Utah, per the report. James, however, won’t be ready to return by then.

James, a 6-foot-2 guard, averaged 4.1 points and 15 minutes in all 34 games last season as a freshman at Sierra canyon. He’s currently listed as the No. 24 overall player in the Rivals.com Class of 2023, and has reported interest from Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, North Carolina and UCLA — along with an offer from North Carolina Central.
