Liverpool XI vs Everton: Starting lineup, confirmed team news and injury latest for Merseyside derby today

Liverpool have made one change for tonight’s Merseyside derby against struggling Everton at Goodison Park.

A 4-0 win over Southampton maintained the Reds’ title push ahead of a visit to their neighbours.

The main selection question was who Klopp goes with to partner Virgil van Dijk in defence, and he has opted for Joel Matip, who comes in for Ibrahima Konate.

The derby comes too soon for Curtis Jones (eye), Roberto Firmino (thigh), Joe Gomez (calf) and Naby Keita (thigh), plus Harvey Elliott (ankle), but Jurgen Klopp noted that his recovering stars have all made good progress in recent days.

The Liverpool manager told reporters: “Everybody came through [the Southampton game] well, as far as I know. The boys are getting closer, all the boys are getting closer.

“I think especially Joe is not too far away from team training, Naby is not too far away from team training, and then Bobby needs probably another week to do more football stuff.

“With Curtis, it’s just not in our hands. Curtis is completely fine, he’s doing what he’s allowed to do. If you asked Curtis, he could go out and run a marathon, but it’s just not allowed in the moment. We have to wait until the doctors give us the green light.”

Liverpool XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson, Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago, Salah, Jota, Mane

Subs: Kelleher, Williams, Tsimikas, Konate, Morton, Milner, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Minamino, Origi
