Lizzo responds to elementary school teacher's 'Truth Hurts' remix

A California elementary school teacher is going viral for her genius remix of the hit song "Truth Hurts" — even grabbing the attention of the original track's creator.

DorothyHoney Mallari, a second-grade teacher at Los Medanos Elementary School in Pittsburg, Calif., uses a custom version of the massively popular anthem to teach her kids self-love and confidence.

Mallari first went viral after her school posted a video to its Facebook page earlier this week, showing the teacher standing on tables and leading her class through lyrics like, "I just took an ELA test, turns out I'm 100% that smart... even when I'm feeling lazy."

The clip earned plenty of praise online, racking up more than 250,000 views in just two days. But perhaps even more importantly, it earned the approval of Lizzo, who sings the song's original version.

Responding to a tweet that called Mallari's video "the best thing you'll watch today," the rapper, singer and classically trained flautist praised the kid-friendly remix.

"Ur right.. this IS the best thing I’ve watched today," Lizzo tweeted Wednesday.

"Truth Hurts," the breakout hit from Lizzo's third album, Cuz I Love You, shattered Billboard chart records and earned the singer her first-ever No. 1 single. Now, thanks to Mallari's remix, the song is getting yet another wave of viral attention.

"Yeah, I got math problems, that's the student in me. Buzz, buzz then I solve them, that's the worker [bee] in me," Mallari's class sings. "You want to have a good friend, who's committed. Help you with your homework, just a little."

"Choose a crate or a wobbly chair. Let's take turns so we know it is fair. In this class, you'll never catch us fighting. Time's up we need to start our writing. Smart spots make learning more exciting," the remix concludes.

The Pittsburg Unified School District originally shared the clip with a request to "make this video go viral," and it seems they've accomplished that goal. In addition to gaining national media attention, Mallari's remix also earned plenty of praise from her local community.

"What a way to keep the students motivated and inspired," the Pittsburgh Police Department tweeted Tuesday. "Shout out to Ms. Mallari for being a great teacher!!"

It doesn't seem like the song is going away any time soon, either. Mallari and her second-graders are set to appear live on "Good Morning America" Friday morning for a performance.

As for Lizzo, the singer is currently performing worldwide as part of her "Truth Hurts" tour.
