HEATHROW, LONDON--(Marketwired - Oct 31, 2014) - The NESSA Foundation, a UK registered charity, raised a staggering £33,000 to go towards building a new orphanage house in Bangladesh thanks to the dedicated efforts of the charity's founder, Majibur Chowdhury, and cooperation from one of the premier hotels near Heathrow Airport.

Chowdhury has worked tirelessly for a number of years to raise money for orphans and widows in his native country Bangladesh, and the fund-raising dinner was his idea to raise money from the local community. An associate of Allie's American Grille, the London Heathrow Marriott hotel's popular steakhouse near Heathrow Airport, Chowdhury sought support from the hotel which kindly donated the ballroom for the event which 350 guests attended on Sunday 12th October. The hotel's support also included an auction prize of an overnight stay in one of its stylish guest rooms near Heathrow Airport Terminal 1, which raised £350 pounds on the night.

Many prominent members of the community including keynote speakers were present and included Gareth Thomas, Labour MP, Yvonne Ridley, journalist, and the hotel's General Manager Ron Vos.

Since the organisation began in April 2010, the NESSA Foundation has already restored many orphans' lives by providing food, shelter, medical care and education. They also raised over £25,900 for the Africa Drought Appeal in February 2013.

"It is so important to raise money for those less fortunate than ourselves and educate the next generation," said Chowdhury. "A huge thank you to everyone that donated to such a good cause; and my thanks go out to the London Heathrow Marriott which always supports my efforts to raise money for the NESSA Foundation."
