Los Angeles County Health Dept. Shuts Down All Local Beaches

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has issued an ocean water use warning through April 3 at 8 a.m.

The reason? Recent rain, which causes more bacteria and debris from nearby streets and mountain areas to flow into the ocean and contaminate waters, particularly around storm drains, creeks, and rivers.

Officials said the warning could be extended if the rain worsens.

Several beaches, including Santa Monica Pier, were already under a high bacteria warning earlier this week.

“These warnings have been issued due to bacterial levels exceeding health standards when last tested,” the health department said.
