A Toronto retiree Hans Lofgreen got his first big lottery win, taking home the Lotto 6/49 top price worth $4,437,083.40 in the May 22 draw.

"I told my family about my win right away," he said while at the OLG Prize Centre to collect his winnings. "They told me I deserve it."

The 73-year-old explained that he stopped a store to check his ticket, which was originally purchased at Esso on Highway 35 in Fenelon Falls.

"This win is a great feeling. I will share this with my loved ones," Lofgreen said.
