Mamata gave me 'rasgulla' so didn't ask her tough question: Rajdeep Sardesai

·1-min read

A video of senior journalist Rajdeep Sardesai is creating flutter on social media platforms. During a weekly show of 'The Lallantop', a Hindi digital outlet, the television anchor claimed that he did not ask 'tough' question to West Bengal chief minister because she would have denied him 'rasogulla'.

When the host asked Sardesai whether he asked Mamata about brutal political killings in Bengal, allegedly perpetarted by the Trinamool Congress supporters, he (Rajdeep) replied: "This was an informal meeting over a cup of tea. Had this been a proper interview, I certainly would have asked."

He then jocularly added: "She would not have given me 'rasogulla' had I asked her about Bengal violence." The host seemed amused by the answer and said that jounrlaists shouldn't worry about sinecures from politicians.

Although it is apparent that the veteran journalist had made that remark in a jocular manner, the netizens were not pleased. Many of them flayed him for giving flippant answer to a serious question.

Sardesai often takes digs at his fellow journalists for not asking tough questions from the Narendra Modi govt at the Centre, hence his even tongue-in-cheek comment has not gone down well with many people.
