Mom looks at Walmart receipt and realizes she got a ‘secret’ discount on her toys: ‘[They don’t] want you to know’

A mom claims she uncovered a money-saving secret that Walmart doesn’t want people to know about — and TikTokers are shocked by how much she’s saved!

TikToker and professional couponer Kiersti Torok (@torok.coupon.hunter) gained over 7.8 million views and nearly 10,000 comments when she posted her toy exposé online.

And now, much like the dad who saved money on his wife’s “romantic” bath by reusing old funeral flowers, this mom’s money-saving tip is going viral.

In the video, Kiersti explains how she managed to buy $140 worth of toys for only $20.

According to the couponing mom, Walmart marks down their toy section by 60 to 70% twice a year — but they never advertise this massive sale.

Instead, they randomly mark down items around the store — and according to Kiersti, they only do this in certain months.

“Normally $13,” Kiersti says, holding up a “Frozen II” Elsa doll. “It was a whopping $3.”

She then holds up a four-piece doll set — featuring Elsa, Anna, Honeymaren and Ryder — that normally sells for $40. Thanks to the secret discount, Kiersti only paid $5.

She also grabbed a Kristoff doll for just $1.50 and a Queen Anna doll for $3.

Kiersti advises viewers to take advantage of these huge savings for Christmas shopping — and TikTokers weighed in with their thoughts in the comments.

‘Wow, thanks for the heads-up!’

“I was a department manager for the Walmart toy department. She’s right. These are the two times of the year we basically clear out all the old toys to make space for the new ones and new versions coming in,” one user wrote.

“This is true. I used to work there and saw two dollhouses worth $100 marked to $15,” another user commented.

“This is an amazing way to gather donations for your local battered women-and-children shelter. Get friends together for a Walmart clearance hunt,” suggested one user.

“Wow, thanks for the heads-up!” another user commented.

But while these “secret” discounts are a good thing to know, it’s important to remember that the holidays aren’t about the toys, electronics or fancy gifts — even if they’re on sale! What matters is spending time with the people you love, and making memories you’ll cherish forever.
