Toronto Raptors guard Kyle Lowry will be absent for the next 7-10 days because of a right toe infection, head coach Nick Nurse told reporters on Wednesday.

"It's not going very well," Nurse said of Lowry’s ailment.

The six-time All Star hasn’t looked quite like himself lately, finishing each of his last three games with 11 points or fewer. Additionally, Lowry missed Sunday’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers because of the injury, although he did appear in Monday’s contest versus the Pistons. He only logged 24 minutes versus Detroit, however, his third-lowest total of the season.

The timetable given by Nurse implies that Lowry will miss the next five or six games for Toronto.

The absence of its leader is certainly bad news for the team on the court as the squad has struggled mightily, dropping 12 of its last 13 games. Lowry’s injury is also terrible fortune the front office, as President Masai Ujiri and company elected to keep the veteran at the deadline instead of dealing him to a contender for assets.

Lowry is an unrestricted free agent this upcoming off-season after signing a one-year extension with the Raptors in 2019.
