North Sea Crude-Brent weakens, sets benchmark again

LONDON, Jan 17 (Reuters) - North Sea Brent crude differentials eased on Wednesday, pressured by softer demand and doubts over how much of the region's crude would be heading to Asia.

The Bukha supertanker that had been expected to go straight to Asia with a cargo of Forties instead went to Southwold off the UK coast, shipping data showed.

Shell (LSE: RDSB.L - news) is expected to send some of the roughly eight Forties cargoes it has bought in 2018 to Asia. However, trade sources said a vessel Shell had fixed to take Forties to South Korea, the Militadis Junior, might not make the trip after all.

* Brent: Litasco bough from Total (LSE: 524773.L - news) a Feb. 1-3 cargo at dated Brent plus 5 cents, down 25 cents from an offer on Tuesday. This means Brent still sets the value of dated Brent because it is the lowest-priced benchmark grade.

* Forties: Unchanged at dated plus 35 cents in the absence of new indications affecting the assessment on Wednesday. (Reporting by Alex Lawler; Editing by David Goodman)
