HOUSTON (AP) _ Oil States International Inc. (OIS) on Wednesday reported a loss of $14.6 million in its first quarter.
On a per-share basis, the Houston-based company said it had a loss of 25 cents. Losses, adjusted for severance costs, were 24 cents per share.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of nine analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 29 cents per share.
The energy services company posted revenue of $250.6 million in the period, also exceeding Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $244.1 million.
Oil States International shares have risen 29 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $18.42, a fall of 44 percent in the last 12 months.
