Pelicans star Zion Williamson ruled out against Clippers under NBA's coronavirus protocols

New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson has entered the NBA’s COVID-19 health and safety protocols and been ruled out for Wednesday’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers, the team announced.

The Pelicans’ game against the Dallas Mavericks on Monday was postponed after four players tested positive for the coronavirus and the team did not have the requisite eight players available to take the court.

Williamson, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 draft, is averaging 21.9 points and 8.1 rebounds per game.

No other New Orleans players were in the NBA’s health and safety protocols at the time of the team’s last injury report.
