Features such as vaulted ceilings, exposed beams and large windows make converted barns very desirable — and that’s not all they have to offer.

"More often than not they have decent-sized gardens, lovely views and plenty of parking — something that buyers increasingly want so that they can charge their electric cars easily," says Daniel Nash, owner of estate agency Nash Partnership.

"Barn conversions tend to go pretty quickly and for good money."

Located on the edge of a village, it has flagstone floors and underfloor heating, and consists of an entrance hall, an open plan kitchen/living/dining area with a log burner and exposed beams, two double bedrooms and a refitted bathroom.

Outside, there’s a gravelled drive and a decked patio giving way to a lawn. For sale through Yopa.

This four-bedroom barn has been cleverly converted into a warm and comfortable family home while retaining all its period charm.

Glazed vents in the exterior walls provide tantalising glimpses of the garden, and in the vast kitchen/living/dining room, original timbers are incorporated into the high ceiling and a half wall that partially divides the cooking and eating areas.

The dual aspect sitting room occupying the western end has a wood-burning stove, and the master bedroom includes a freestanding roll-top tub in the ensuite bathroom, and two walls of fitted wardrobes in the adjoining dressing room. Via Country Living Group.

Unusually for a former barn, this property is arranged over three storeys, with the master bedroom and ensuite and another bedroom on the first floor, and two further bedrooms and bathrooms on the second.

At its heart is a rather spectacular kitchen/dining room with a vaulted ceiling, timber beams, an exposed stone wall and two sets of French doors.

The high ceiling and beams continue through to the study, which could be turned into a fifth bedroom, and there’s also a living room with a log burner French doors to the back and front, a utility and a large garden. For sale through Luscombe Maye.

It’s believed to date back to the 16th century and was converted about 25 years ago by Huw Thomas, a renowned local architect, who created a spacious, light-filled home with an impressive master bedroom suite, four further bedrooms, a sitting room, kitchen/diner and a huge vaulted dining hall.
