Yahoo Finance Sharad Pawar to undergo surgery; speculation over Maharashtra govt's future
National Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar was taken to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai for a check up after he felt uneasy due to a pain in his abdomen on Sunday evening, NCP leader Nawab Malik tweeted.
“Our party president Sharad Pawar saheb was feeling a little uneasy due to a pain in his abdomen last evening and was therefore taken to Breach Candy Hospital for a check-up. Upon diagnosis it came to light that he has a problem in his gall bladder,” Nawab Malik said in a tweet.
Pawar will be hospitalised for a surgery on Wednesday and he has cancelled all public programs till further notice.

He is on Blood Thinning Medication which is now being stopped due to this issue.
He will be admitted in hospital on the 31st of March 2021 and an Endoscopy and Surgery will be conducted.

The announcement comes day after speculation of meeting between Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Sharad Pawar in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad. While the Union Home Minister said that “everything may not be made public”, the NCP on the other hand debunked the speculation and said that no such meeting took place.
Pawar was also scheduled to campaign for the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal for the assembly polls. He was scheduled to visit the poll-bound state on April 1 and camp in the state for three days where he was to hold various rallies, press conferences and meet Mamata Banerjee and TMC workers.

Media reported that Shah met Pawar and senior Nationalist Congress Party leader and former Union Minister Praful Patel in Ahmedabad, supposedly at industrialist Gautam Adani’s place.
Shah’s cryptic comment left everyone guessing even as reports about the meeting had triggered speculations amid the political crisis in Maharashtra in wake of former former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh’s serious charges against state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, of the NCP.
The Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government includes the NCP and the Congress.
Reports speculate that the top BJP and NCP leaders have been discussing the possible coalition in the state.
However, Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik rubbished talk of a meeting between his party chief Sharad Pawar and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
He further alleged that such talk was the BJP's way of creating 'confusion'.
'It is a completely false information deliberately pushed by some people to create confusion. It is something that BJP wants to create some confusion. Such a meeting has not taken place. There is no reason that Pawar should meet Shah,' Malik said.
Rumours: Pawar offered Vice President’s post?
Even as speculation grows, the buzz on the social media is that NCP boss Sharad Pawar might be offered the position of the Vice President of India and the NCP and the BJP will come together to form the government in Maharashtra. Several people took to Twitter to float this view. However, there is nothing in public domain to suggest that this is what is happening.

All is not well between Shiv Sena and NCP?
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Sunday said no one should play spoilsport in a coalition government, after Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut called NCP leader Anil Deshmukh an ‘accidental home minister’. The allotment of cabinet berths is the prerogative of head of every ruling party in a coalition, Ajit Pawar, who is also an NCP leader, told reporters in Baramati town of Pune.
Notably, former Mumbai police chief Param Bir Singh in a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on March 20 claimed Home Minister Deshmukh wanted police officers to collect Rs 100 crore monthly from bars and hotels. Deshmukh has dismissed the allegations against him.
The Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress share power in Maharashtra. In his weekly column Rokhthok in the Shiv Sena mouthpiece 'Saamna', Raut on Sunday called Deshmukh an accidental home minister, claiming he got the post after senior NCP leaders like Jayant Patil and Dilip Walse-Patil refused the responsibility.
Reacting to it, Ajit Pawar said the three parties have formed the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in Maharashtra. "The allotment of cabinet berths is the prerogative of head of every political party (in the coalition). No one should play spoilsport when the three-party government is functioning properly," the deputy chief minister said.
He further said Sharad Pawar, being head of the NCP, takes all decisions, including allotment of cabinet berths to the party leaders. A similar method is being followed by the Congress and Shiv Sena, Ajit Pawar said.
"It should be respected instead of making any unwarranted comments," he said.
Another NCP leader, Nawab Malik, said, “If shortcomings have been brought forward in an editorial (Saamana), then, it should be taken in a positive manner. I think the Home Minister will work on those shortcomings.” Inputs: PTI, News18
