The Evander Kane saga might be coming to a muffled end.

On Sunday, the San Jose Sharks placed the 30-year-old skilled winger on waivers, and if Kane goes unclaimed through the 24-hour window, he will be sent down to the AHL.

According to Sharks assistant general manager Joe Will, the Sharks technically put Kane on waivers at the beginning of his 21-game suspension from the team for providing a fake vaccine card during the off-season. Kane was eligible to return to action on Tuesday.

Will said Sunday that Kane is now fully vaccinated, for real this time.

It is undetermined when the winger will actually be back on the ice, but according to the player’s agent, Dan Milstein, Kane is willing to play in the AHL.

The vaccination issue is not the only story that has surrounded Kane this year. Earlier, the NHL launched an investigation into the claims from his ex-wife Anna that the player used to gamble on his own games. There was a separate investigation into domestic abuse claims from his ex-wife as well, though the investigations found nothing of substance.

Amid these issues, the Sharks told Kane not to report to training camp, after leading the team in scoring just last season.

Kane is currently suspended without pay, but has three more years in his contract after this season, that carries a $7-million AAV.
