Temperatures are rising and summer is finally upon us – which means that knitters and crocheters across the country are using their yarn crafts to create fun postbox toppers to celebrate the sunny season.

Postbox toppers are appearing up and down the country – beautiful knitted or crocheted decorations that are brightening up high streets across the UK!

And craft lovers have taken to social media to share the postbox toppers they discover on their travels. We've rounded up our favourites from up and down the country – maybe they'll inspire you to get stitching!

This crochet octopus postbox topper on Southend Pier is so much fun, as shared by @visitsouthend on Instagram. It's enough to brighten up even the rainiest day at the British seaside!

June is Pride Month in Britain, and this fabulous rainbow crochet postbox topper is a wonderful celebration, shared by @nuage_dorage on Instagram. The little mice holding a banner on top are the perfect finishing touch.

Postbox toppers don't just feature summer scenes, as demonstrated by this brilliant one of Lady Jane Grey shared by @richted85 on Instagram. The detail is incredible – whoever made this one is a seriously talented knitter!

Another commemorative postbox topper was spotted in Barnes, south London, by @nestyboyd on Instagram. It celebrates her classic children's novel The Tiger Who Came to Tea, and is such a lovely tribute to a national treasure.

This postbox topper spotted by @a_yorkshireyarn in Menston, West Yorkshire, is such a classic summer scene. The knitted maypole dancers are adorable, and the extra knitted flowers around the edge finish off the design perfectly.

Another classic children's story was celebrated on this postbox spotted by @snoozie_p on Instagram – featuring the eponymous character from The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. Featuring both knit and crochet stitches, it's such a lovely project to spot when you're out and about!
