SINGAPORE — An 18-year-old boy was found dead outside One Raffles Place on Tuesday night (5 January).
The police said they were alerted to the incident at about 9.30pm and arrived to find the victim lying motionless, according to local media reports.
An ambulance paramedic later pronounced him dead on the spot.
The police have classified the case as an unnatural death and investigations are ongoing.
Photos on social media show several police cars and an ambulance at the location, with the area cordoned off by police tape.
One Raffles Place comprises two office towers. Tower 1 has more than 60 floors while Tower 2 has 38 floors. Rooftop bar 1-Altitude is located at level 61 to 63.
News outlet CNA reported that the teen was a guest at 1-Altitude.
In a post on its Facebook page on Tuesday, 1-Altitude said its rooftop bar would be closed from Wednesday to Thursday, and apologised for any inconvenience caused.
Replying to queries from Yahoo News Singapore, Synergyinthesky, which runs 1-Altitude, said the teen was a guest at the bar. “Synergyinthesky Pte Ltd is committed to the safety and security of all our patrons and staff. This was an isolated, tragic incident and we are working closely with the authorities to provide any information we can to assist in the investigation.”
Meanwhile, the management of One Raffles Place said it is cooperating with the authorities on the matter. “Our condolences are with the family of the victim in their time of bereavement.”
