Teenage stab victim dies, two others suffer knife wounds

One of three teenagers who were stabbed in south London on Thursday night has died, police have said.

Officers were called at around 9.10pm to reports of a male stabbed on Brighton Road in Croydon.

The Met Police said: "Officers, the London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance attended. Despite their efforts, a male, believed to be aged in his late teens, died at the scene."

The victim has not been identified.

A second male, believed to be aged in his late teens, was found near Brighton Road suffering from stab injuries, police said.

He was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A third male, also thought to be in his late teens, was found close to Purley Railway Station suffering from a slash wound.

Scotland Yard said he has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and taken to a south London hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Two other males, whose ages are not known, have been arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon. They remain in custody at south London police stations.

Detectives from the Specialist Crime Command are investigating.
